Helical Couplings / Beam Couplings

MW Components' Helical Products location, is the originator of the flexible "Helical coupling" or “Beam coupling” and remains the industry leader across the globe in flexible couplings and flexible coupling technology and innovation. Through this and other locations, we offer a vast range of standard beam couplings as well as the ability to create custom couplings to meet your exact specifications.

Beam or Helical couplings are flexible shaft couplings designed to transmit torque between shafts. Due to their curved beam configurations which allow angular movement, they can accommodate misalignments and axial motion, unlike traditional rigid couplings.

Manufacturing

Our beam flexible couplings are produced using either aluminum or stainless steel using various machining services; however, specialty materials and services are also available for custom components. Multiple attachment styles are also available for added functionality. Torque range, bore ranges, operating temperatures, speed, and other performance factors will vary depending on the configuration chosen.

Configurations

A Series

The "A" series flexible beam couplings come in US sizes, are produced from either aluminum or stainless steel, and are perfect for general purpose and light to medium duty. An economical, maintenance-free coupling, used in a variety of applications such as encoder/resolver applications, low torque pump, lead screw, and various other applications.

A & H Series Flexible Beam Couplings

Misalignment Compensation:
• 5° angular
• .010 in parallel offset
• .010 in axial motion
Torque Range: 1.2-100 Ibin
Bore Range: 0.059-0.75 in (1.5-19.05 mm)
Attachment Options: clamp and set screw
Operating Temps: Up to 200°F
Speed (In Wind-Up Direction): 10,000 rpm

H Series

The "H" series beam couplings are a stainless steel version of the "A" series, with higher torque capacity and torsional stiffness as well as increased fatigue resistance. The H series is ideally suited for situations requiring a heavy-duty coupling for pump, lead screws, and positioning systems. Also for process equipment in industrial situations where a rugged, tough, long-lasting coupling is needed.

A & H Series Flexible Beam Couplings

Misalignment Compensation:
• 5° angular
• .010 in parallel offset
• .010 in axial motion
Torque Range: 2.4-100 Ibin
Bore Range: 0.059-0.75 in (1.5-19.05 mm)
Attachment Options: clamp and set screw
Operating Temps: Up to 600°F
Speed (In Wind-Up Direction): 10,000 rpm

DS Series

DS (Double Start) series flexible beam couplings are low inertia, high performance, aluminum couplings, that utilize helical double start technology. The DS series is torsionally stiffer and has a higher torque capacity than the "A" series. They are lighter and feature lower inertia than the "H" series.

Attachment Options: clamp
Operating Temps: Up to 200°F
Speed (In Wind-Up Direction): 10,000 rpm

MCA Series

MCA series is a general-purpose aluminum flexible beam coupling, used in applications where more parallel misalignment is required. The MCA series has a large range of shaft sizes, with optional keyways. It is good for encoder/resolver applications, moderate torque pump, lead screw, and various other applications.
